Chelsea favourites to win 2024-25 Conference League
The Conference League Round of 16 matches opened their doors on March 6, with the return games taking place on March 13. The eight strongest teams included: Chelsea (England), Victoria (Portugal), Fiorentina (Italy), Rapid (Austria), Djurgården (Sweden), Lugano (Switzerland), Legia (Poland), and Cercle Brugge (Belgium). Unfortunately, Jagiellonia (Poland) failed to advance to this stage, although they looked even stronger than Legia, which is hosting the final this year, throughout the tournament.
The top three are Chelsea, Victoria, and Fiorentina. The English club is significantly ahead of its competitors in points, and catching up with them will not be an easy task for the other favorites. Last season, Greek side Olympiacos won the title, beating Fiorentina 1-0 at the Agia Sophia Stadium in Athens in the final. However, this year, everything points to the British triumph. Under Enzo Maresca, Chelsea have collected 18 points from six matches, scoring 26 goals, and have not suffered a single defeat or draw. The London club have demonstrated tactical flexibility, varying formations with two or three strikers, such as 5-3-2 or 4-4-2. Maresca’s side skillfully combine long and short passes, which has brought success against less balanced opponents. In addition, the team has an impressive roster of star players. This season, forward Mark Guiou has particularly stood out, scoring six goals. Christopher Nkou Nkou, also for Chelsea, scored five goals in the group stage. The French footballer, who previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, is experiencing his best seasons at Chelsea. The Ukrainian winger also became the hero of the match against Panathinaikos, which Chelsea won 4:1.
Tickets for the Conference League final at the Tarczynski Arena Wroclaw stadium provide a unique opportunity to see the strongest European clubs fight for the prestigious trophy live.
