The UEFA Nations League Championship will open with a match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Sweden

Both teams play in the First League Group C. Not the strongest teams got there, but this does not mean that their meetings are less interesting than the battles of football titans, who recently shone with victories in the Euroleague. Since the spring of this year, the Azerbaijani team is in 112th place in the FIFA rankings, but it has many memorable victories in its arsenal. For example, in 2001, the Azerbaijanis completely defeated the Slovaks, and two years later - the Serbs. And Azerbaijan has enough stars in the national team. Forward of the Turkish club Hatayspor Renat Dadashov is the most expensive player, whose transfer value is well over a million euros. Dadashev's efficiency justifies his price - it was thanks to him that the Azerbaijani national team scored seven points in the EURO 2024 qualifying tournament and took fourth place in its group. The national team also has two more bright and very productive forwards - Ramil Sheydayev and Mahir Emreli. And of course, the undisputed star of the national team is the son of the head coach of Aghdam "Qarabag" Gurban Gurbanov and the forward of the Swedish "Djurgården" Musa Gurbanli.

The Swedes are much higher in the FIFA rating than their opponents in the game - at the moment they are in twenty-seventh place. They are more accustomed to victories than the Azerbaijanis, and there are also more than enough stars in the team. Defensive midfielder Albin Ekdal, left wingers Viktor Claesson, Sam Larsson and Emil Forsberg, central defender Pontus Jansson, goalkeeper Robin Olsen, powerful centre forward Alexander Isak, striker Robin Quaison and central defender Victor Lindelof will take to the pitch in the colours of the Swedish national team.
