Estadio BBVA

Description

BBVA Stadium, located in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, Mexico, is a modern football stadium serving as the home of Monterrey CF. Opened on August 2, 2015, it replaced the former Estadio Tecnológico, where the team played matches for 63 years. The stadium has a capacity of 53,529 spectators, and its GrassMaster natural surface ensures a high-quality game. The stadium features a 34-degree slope and the minimum pitch-to-seat distance permitted by FIFA standards. Facilities include VIP boxes, a club restaurant, and a lounge area. More than a third of the site is occupied by green spaces, which help filter rainwater and recharge aquifers. Estadio BBVA has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for its sustainable design, becoming the first football stadium in North America to receive this recognition. Construction began in August 2011 and was completed in July 2015, with an investment of $200 million, making it the most expensive stadium in Mexico at the time. In 2016, the stadium's capacity was increased to 53,500. As part of BBVA's global brand unification, the stadium was renamed Estadio BBVA Bancomer to Estadio BBVA on June 10, 2019.
