Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex

Located in Bawshar, the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex is the largest sports facility in Oman and an important part of the Muscat metropolitan area. Named after Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, who led the country from 1970 to 2020, the multi-purpose stadium has a capacity of 34,000 spectators. Since its opening on 19 October 1985, the complex has served as the main home venue for the Oman national football team and a number of local clubs.

Construction began in 1983 and over the years the stadium has hosted a variety of sporting and cultural events, including prestigious Gulf Cup matches. Due to its multifunctionality, the complex also hosts competitions in other sports and serves as a venue for city and national holidays.
