Description

The Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium, located in the center of Baku, is an important sports facility with a rich history. Opened on September 16, 1951, it is named after the famous Azerbaijani referee Tofig Bahramov. Today, the stadium serves as the main arena for home matches of the Aghdam club "Qarabag" and the Azerbaijan national football team.

Construction of the stadium began in 1939, but was suspended due to the Great Patriotic War. Work resumed, and in 1951 the stadium was ceremonially opened. Throughout its history, it has changed its name several times, until it was named after Tofig Bahramov in 1993.

In 2012, the stadium underwent significant reconstruction, carried out by the Korean company Samhwa Telecom. As a result of the modernization, the number of seats increased to 31,200, making it one of the largest sports facilities in the region.

The Tofik Bahramov Republican Stadium is used not only for football matches, but also for international tournaments. In September-October 2012, it hosted matches of the U17 Women's World Cup, including the opening match and the final.
