Description
The Ataturk Olympic Stadium, located in Istanbul, is the largest multisport stadium in Turkey. Opened on July 31, 2002, it is named after the country's first president, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Originally built to host the XXIX Olympic Games, the stadium has become a significant venue for sporting and cultural events.
The stadium is impressive in its architecture: two steel roofs, manufactured by Tekfen and weighing a total of 4,100 tons, create the unique appearance of the structure. The western roof is crescent-shaped and supported by two reinforced concrete pillars with a span of 196 meters. Beneath it is a six-story shopping mall with an area of 42,200 m².
With a capacity of 77,563 spectators and a field size of 105 x 68 m, the stadium is capable of hosting world-class events. It has hosted such significant events as Champions League finals and concerts of international stars.
For the convenience of visitors, there are 134 entrances and 148 exit gates, as well as a car park for 400 cars. The stadium has two training grounds connected to the main arena by an underground tunnel.
