Description

The Russian national team has participated in four World championships (1994, 2002, 2014, 2018) and six European Championships (1996, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020). As the host of the tournament, the national team also participated in the 2017 Confederations Cup. The highest achievements are the 3rd place shared with Turkey at the 2008 European Championship and the 1/4 finals at the 2018 World Championship.

Sergey Ignashevich played the greatest number of matches for the national team - 126 (8); the best scorer of the national team - Alexander Kerzhakov (30 goals). The current captain of the national team is Artem Dzyuba. The head coach of the national team is Stanislav Cherchesov, appointed to this position on August 10, 2016.
