Neftchi FC (Neftçi Peşəkar Futbol Klubu) is a well-known Azerbaijani football club based in Baku. This team is a regular participant of the Azerbaijan Premier League.
Founded in 1937 and originally known as "Neftyanik", the club is considered one of the most famous in Azerbaijan. During the Soviet era, Neftchi played in the Top League for 27 seasons. Even after independence, the club remains one of the most prestigious in the country. It is one of the two football clubs of Azerbaijan included in all national championships. The club has won 9 league titles, second only to Karabakh, which has 10 titles.
I am pleased to note that Neftchi became the first Azerbaijani team to qualify for the group stage of the Europa League. This landmark success highlights the skill and dedication of the team.
