Slovakia national football team

The Slovak national football team is the pride of the Slovak Republic and represents it at international football tournaments and in friendly matches. Founded in 1993 after the collapse of Czechoslovakia, it became a regular participant in qualifying tournaments for the World and European Championships.

The Slovakian national team achieved its best result at the 2010 World Cup, reaching the 1/8 finals, where it played unsuccessfully against the Netherlands national team. However, this is not the team’s only achievement.

The rivalry with the Czech team is of particular importance for the Slovakian national team. The teams met not only in friendly matches, but also in qualifying tournaments. Despite several defeats, the Slovaks managed to beat the Czechs in the qualifying tournament for the 2008 World Cup and drew in subsequent matches.

The Slovakian national team also has a well-deserved place in the FIFA and UEFA rankings. As of April 9, 2020, the team is ranked 32nd in the FIFA rankings and 16th in the UEFA rankings as of October 11, 2017.
