Since the 2024/2025 season, the UEFA Champions League has been played in a new format: 36 teams play eight matches in the league phase instead of being divided into groups. The Sabah vs. Slavia Prague match is part of the second matchday, and from the very beginning of the league phase, every point affects a team’s position in the overall standings. For a debutant, every such match is an opportunity to move up the table and get closer to the play-offs. The Azerbaijani champions reached the Champions League through qualifying and have no intention of simply making up the numbers.
In the league phase, Sabah will host Slavia, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Napoli, while their away fixtures will be against Manchester United, Viking, Villarreal and Arsenal. Such a schedule turns the season into a series of major events for football fans. The match against the Czech club opens Sabah’s home schedule, making it especially important for both supporters and the team. The announcement of the Sabah vs. Slavia match has already attracted considerable interest.
Why attend this particular match? Because the game against Slavia offers a chance to witness Sabah’s debut at their home stadium in the competition. Baku does not often host matches involving clubs of this level, so interest is growing. If you want to buy tickets, do not delay: league-phase matches featuring top opponents sell quickly, and there are only a limited number of such sporting events on the calendar.
