Description

King Saud University Stadium (KSUS), also known as Al-Awwal Park due to sponsorship circumstances, is a football arena located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In September 2020, the management of the stadium was transferred to SMC. In October of the same year, SMC signed an agreement with Al-Nasr Football Club, according to which Al-Awwal Park became their home arena.

Construction on the campus of King Saud University in West Riyadh began in the spring of 2011, and the stadium was opened in May 2015. The construction order was placed with Hashem Contracting Company, designed by architect Michael K.C. Chea and his wife Stephanie, who were expanding their experience in creating football stadiums in Saudi Arabia.

Hashem Contracting has built the stadium in accordance with FIFA international standards for hosting international matches, adhering to a budget of 215 million riyals ($57 million). The outer shell of the stadium is made in the form of a perforated metal structure, which in sunlight can give the impression of a soil-brown or golden hue.

By the end of 2020, the stadium underwent reconstruction at Mrsool Park, turning into a youth and family venue with fan zones and entertainment areas, which continues to the present day.

In November 2020, the stadium was renamed Mrsool Park after signing a contract with Mrsool. In 2021, the arena hosted the Maradona Cup between Boca Juniors and Barcelona in honor of Diego Maradona, who passed away a year earlier.

In April 2023, the stadium received a new name - Al-Awwal Park, after signing a sponsorship agreement with Saudi Awwal Bank in the amount of $ 15 million for the next three years.
