«Dynamo» Tbilisi is a Georgian football club, which is considered the most famous and one of the strongest in the history of the USSR championship. The team achieved great success and deservedly won many medals.
The greatest triumph of Dynamo is the victory in the 1981 Cup Winners' Cup. In this historic final, held in Düsseldorf, the Georgian team defeated the East German club Carl Zeiss. with a score of 2:1.
In 1990, when Georgian clubs withdrew from the USSR championship, Dynamo temporarily changed its name to "Iberia", but soon returned to the original name.
History of Dynamo Tbilisi began in 1925, when the sports organization "Dynamo" created a football club in Tiflis. The team played the first match against the Baku club Dynamo. January 6, 1926, in which it failed to win with a score of 1:0. However, just three days later, Dynamo managed to defeat the Baku club "Progress" with a score of 3:0.
