Al-Awwal Park

Die Beschreibung

King Saud University Stadium (KSUS), also known as Al-Awwal Park due to sponsorship circumstances, is a football stadium located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In September 2020, the stadium's management was transferred to SMC. In October of the same year, SMC entered into an agreement with Al-Nasr FC to make Al-Awwal Park their home stadium.

Construction on the campus of King Saud University in West Riyadh began in the spring of 2011, and the stadium opened in May 2015. The contract for the construction work was placed with Hashem Contracting Company, with designs by architect Michael K.S. Chea and his wife Stephanie, who have been expanding their experience in building football stadiums in Saudi Arabia.

Hashem Contracting built the stadium to FIFA international standards for hosting international matches, with a budget of 215 million riyals ($57 million). The stadium's outer shell is made of a perforated metal structure that can give the appearance of a soil-brown or golden hue when exposed to sunlight.

By the end of 2020, the stadium underwent a renovation into Mrsool Park, turning it into a youth and family venue with fan zones and entertainment areas, which is still ongoing.

In November 2020, the stadium was renamed Mrsool Park after signing a contract with Mrsool. In 2021, the stadium hosted the Maradona Cup between Boca Juniors and Barcelona in honor of Diego Maradona, who passed away the previous year.

In April 2023, the stadium was renamed Al-Awwal Park, after signing a sponsorship deal with Saudi Awwal Bank worth $15 million over the next three years.
